College Work

  • Macy's Marketing Challenge

In 2017, I participated with three friends in the Macy’s Marketing Challenge focusing on providing an exclusive in-store customer experience. We won second place!

Our team brainstormed the concept of 360 Experience, a device that showed the shopper the best outfits tailored to the shape and personal style.

I enjoyed creating a media plan, which largely focused on body positivity and confidence in all shoppers.

  • Altoids Media Plan Project

As part of my Media Planning class, I worked on an Altoids case study where I analyzed budget, sales figures, competition, niche marketing, and positioning strategy.

I loved this case and this class because it taught me the value of competency in data analysis when determining marketing strategy.

  • Senior Thesis: A Textual Analysis of America Chavez

For my senior thesis, I decided to center my research on Latinx representation in Media, with the media of choice being comic books. I was heavily inspired by Gabby Rivera’s iteration of America, feeling drawn to the authenticity of the Latinx character, America. I questioned why this version of America felt so close to home compared to others. Using the Standpoint Theory, I analyzed different variables of representation surrounding a Latinx character when created by Latinx writers and artists versus non-Latinx.

Minority representation in Advertising was an important focus for me while studying at RIT. As a student, I was rarely shown positive examples of campaigns featuring BIPOC and that was enough for me to feel inspired to make that difference in my career.
