leftovers: a collage series
The leftovers collage series started in 2021 out of desire to connect with my passion of food in a new format. Using numerous old food magazines, glue, and paper, each piece is hand-cut and thoughtfully arranged. The series is on-going and reflects the reality of artist, Alexis Marie Montoya.

Artist-in-Residence
BronxArtSpace / Governor’s Island / May 1 - July 31, 2023
Being an Artist-in-Residence is a surreal experience. The conclusion of my first residency with BronxArtSpace left me with an insatiable desire to continue creating.
When I first decided to put my art out there, it was a scary, vulnerable experience. Taking that small yet mighty step has opened my world to experiences like this where I completed new pieces (with some in progress), met amazing BX artists, and learned valuable lessons about what it means to create - all on a beautiful island.

Bon Appétit - A Skeptic Tries
For Bon Appétit’s A Skeptic Tries column, I channeled my process from leftovers while attempting to capture the core of each story. The artwork for this project is created first by hand and then edited where necessary on Photoshop.
